OUR STORY

Mr Mohsin Mogul

In the 1960s, during India’s post-Independence struggles, Mr. Mohsin Mogul established Hatim Dielectrics in Kolkata with the purpose of manufacturing Mica Tapes. His choice of location, near the Mica mining belt in Bihar, strategically positioned the company. The burgeoning Indian Railways, particularly Chittranjan Locomotive Works (CLW), required electrical insulation products, and Hatim Dielectrics began supplying Splitting Glass Mica Tape. This helped in replacing costly imports and ensured a reliable supply.

Expanding its offerings, Hatim Dielectrics also secured a license to import Dupont Nomex®, which was previously exclusive to the US Army. This made them India’s first importer and user of Nomex®.

Over time, the company diversified its product range, including items such as mica paper-based tapes, mainly resin-rich PGMP, specialized resin-poor tapes for VPI application, aramid fibre-blended mica tapes for traction motor applications, slot wedges, and machined epoxy components. These offerings attracted OEM clients like Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Crompton Greaves, Kirloskar, and General Electric Company.

Today, led by the fourth generation of the Mogul family, Hatim Dielectrics continues to grow and reach markets beyond India. The company has modernized its manufacturing facilities, adopted ISO-prescribed methods and standards while maintaining its base in Dum Dum, North Kolkata.
